After participating in the Kennett Square Mushroom Festival we realized that there are some beautiful homes in and around Kennett Square. The other thing we realized is that they are big and aging. Along with the awesome architecture comes depleting insulation levels.

Although these homes were well built. Insulation levels were magnified compared to the norm of the day. Most of these homes are still very under insulated.

Department of Energy is recommending an R60 most of these homes are insulated to an R20. With the proper air sealing and insulation most of these homeowners would see a savings of at least 30%. Some of these customers may even be seeing a 30% rise in the electric utility as of Jan 1st.

We think solar is a great idea, but to have a home that is not efficient makes no sense. Replacing your light bulbs with CFL”S, air sealing, and insulating is the best bang for your buck.

Don’t believe the hype windows are not your answer, we have done over 150 audits and only one customer was happy with their savings after replacing their windows. We replace windows and don’t recommend replacement unless you can’t stand the look, they don’t operate, or are single pane. The best bang for your buck is insulating your attic, along with air sealing.

As energy prices continue to soar all of you living, in the Kennett Square, West Chester, Hockessin area should insulate your attics, and air seal your home. I say “should” because it makes no sense not to, the federal government is giving you a TAX REBATE, and insulation is giving you the best return on investment out of any home improvement.

Do a little research and you will find out or visit www.re-insulation.com and hear what our customers have to say.
